Did nvidia ever make a gtx 980ti black reference cooler?

No they didn't, it's most likely painted. Titan X is the only black one I know of.

Probably just took the silver coating on the lettering. But that cooler is similar to the Titan x

Could be a scam, like a clever title. Hes selling the GPU cooler or something :P (people actually do that on ebay).

he actually is selling the cooler... it even goes in to saying how it will fit a 980 and a titan

Possibly an engineering sample. The early Titan Black Edition had a reference cooler like that. link and link

 

Although people have discussed if these really were enginnering sample in the first place. Or if someone just painted it black.

 

Either way, I vote the latter, if it was a real engineering sample, no way he'd sell it for such a low price.

Plastidip them? Then you can peel it off when the time comes to put them on the shelf :)

Oh I know, i'm from the UK :D I managed to get quite a few cans of plastidip, forgot the website though. It definitely isn't cheap, like it is in the US but still, better than just straight up painting the card.

yea i agree. spray paint seems to be worse hear aswell
