Okay, I was gone for awhile, did some black guy thinking and now I'm back!

My new build! I would like everyones opinion on everything, maybe different brands, or better prices. I do have a price range but I made some extra money.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/dHyjzy

So I have a few questions, is it fine if my case only has 1 3.0 USB port and on part pc picker is says that my total wattage is 312, can I get away with buying a EVGA 500w to cover my over clocking needs as well or will I need a 600? I plan on oc'ing my CPU, GPU and Ram, probably slowly at first because the case I'm getting probably comes with 3 subpar fans but its what I have to work with atm.

If you guys can suggest new parts that would be awesome, especially mobo, wanna make sure I'm getting a good one for at least below $150 please. The one thing that can't change is my CPU and GPU. Those are here to stay, I'll upgrade to a 980 ti some time in two years or so.

Thank you for your support and any other tips, this will be my first build. I'm buying my gpu tomorrow!

Okay, First off I'm getting K version of cpu, there is no point for me to get a locked version when I just said I was going to OC everything... On another note, is a GTX 960 that bad? I'm wary of getting AMD cards... just heard bad reviews of temps, drivers and power usage. Hungry little things. Also, unless I can get a cheap one, they're a little out of my price. I'm getting my GTX 960 for $155. Besides I just found a 6600k at microcenter near my house for 230... why wouldn't I buy it? Is there a problem with the K versions?

No problems with k at all. Those lists left them out for budgetary reasons.

If you can afford it, and you want to overclock, then definitely get one.

Nothing wrong with GTX 960 either. It's just a popular notion on this forum that Nvidia cards shouldn't exist because of the AMD counterparts.

I like your original part list, but I'd suggest even faster RAM. People like to say things like "there's no benefit in games" but who cares? It's only a few dollars more for faster memory that could help down the road when you least expect it. I recently got 16GB of DRR4-3000 for $110. Divided by two is only $5 more than the 2133 you picked.

The cooler also comes with a tube of thermal paste. You don't need the additional tube. Save $6. I have the same cooler on a 6700k and it keeps it at 30-35C ish at idle, and it ran Folding At Home all night last night at 100% and it spiked at 80C, but was mostly at around 78-79.

Thanks for your input Watts300, I appreciate it!

I will look into some faster ram, the thing is the one I was getting isn't 2133, its actually 2400 but pcparkpicker didn't have them. I will look into some 3000 speed though. Does it really give no benefit in games? I'm also going to be coding quite a bit. I'm going to school for computer science and AI. That's why I just decided to get one of the best CPU's on the market right now for the reason as well.

I'm pretty new to temps and stuff so I'm suspecting that's good? haha I know a fair amount but this is my first time with a arguebly high performance pc, Bios, OC'ing and some other things have got me a little scared but I gotta push through it.

On the GPU end, I'm just getting a really good deal with this GTX 960 so if I can get a good AMD sure, I was just told to kinda stay away from AMD though and I don't wanna have to buy a 600w power supply because my dang card is drawing 250w by itself...

Btw the I'm getting the SSC EVGA and when I looked at the recommended R9 380, yes it has more stream processors which if I'm not mistaken is just cuda cores for NVidia but the clock speeds is hideous and its a good 40-50 dollars more... how much better performance am I really getting? I know the the GTX 960 isn't exactly future proof. I'll probably get away with it for a year or two and that's fine.
