Oink!

I'm looking for a new fan for my case (140mm), but I'm not sure what fan to get though, and I'll be using it as an out-take fan (top).

I already own a Corsair AF140 (Quiet Edition) to cool my drives. I'm not sure about getting another one of those (normal, not quiet), or just another brand, like Be Quiet! or Cryorig.

I don't want to spend over €25 (and no budget stretching).

It can be any dark color (grey/black).

Cheers,

The Slimpy Pig.

This is truly a crime against humanity.

I don't like Corsair's fans, so I would say to get some Be Quiet or Cryorig fans. I know you said you don't know about them, but they're better than Corsair's I can tell you that.

What models would you suggest from the two brands?

Going for Cryorig, thanks for the help!

Quick question:

Is it best if I put the Cryorig fan in the front pannel and the Corsair fan on the top of the case as an out-take or viceversa?

I'd probably get the Cryorig fans, personally.

Why's that? SW2's are easily better.

I haven't seen comparisons between the two, but from what I've seen from the Cryorig fans is that they're quiet and get the job done. Plus they're cheaper.

They're not nearly as quiet as SW2's--not a surprise considering they're among the best of the best.

Some direct fan comparisons aren't as easily available, but you can see a bit of the difference with how the smaller cooler Shadow Rock Slim holds similar temps while being quieter than the R1 Ultimate. http://www.silentpcreview.com/article1423-page6.html

I'm not sure how to interpret that sheet. The way I'm reading it shows the Cryorig with a lower temp and lower decibel reading, but you said the Shadow Rock Slim has similar temps while being more quiet.

Look at the lower decibel readings. The temps are similar or an increment lower for the SR Slim--at least for the lower end which is the most relevant for comparing noise. What makes the difference is that this is for a cooler that normally performs worse than the large dual tower coolers like the NH-D15 or R1 Ultimate. http://us.hardware.info/reviews/5629/4/39-cpu-coolers-review-what-is-the-best-choice-graphs-cooling-socket-1155

I looked at the decibel chart on this link in your post since that one on silentPC is just hard for me to look at.

Now, not to "pull this card", but I didn't say the silent wings wouldn't be better. I said I would just buy the Cryorig ones if it were my decision since the fans are cheaper - the tradeoff seems fine since they're going on the case itself and not on a cooler anyways.

Well guys (looking at the websites):

XF140:

Max. airflow: 76 CFM

Air pressure: 1.44 mmH2O

Max noise level: 23 dBA

Max speed: 1300 RPM

Price (Amazon.it): €12.29

SW 2 (140mm):

Max airflow: 102.6 CFM

Air pressure: 0.81 mmH2O

Max noise level: 16.4 dBA

Max speed: 1000 RPM

Price (Amazon.it): €25.39

So from what I know, air pressure is only useful when used in very limited airflow spaces, such as radiators, while airflow for anywhere in the case.

Is the SW2 worth the extra money, or should I stick with the XF140, for half the price?

You could maybe do these: http://www.amazon.it/Quiet-BL047-Wings-Ventola-Raffreddamento/dp/B00ECWKE3A/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1447008940&sr=8-6&keywords=140mm+fan

I don't know why I didn't bother to look around on Amazon for your area specifically.

Pure Wings 2? They aren't that much better, louder and not PWM. But they are still less noisy than the XT140 and way more efficient.

Goddamit, I can't decide.

SW2: best of the three, PWM, costs the most.

PW2: still good, not so loud but not PWM.

XT140: Decent, PWM.

I'm not sure mate. The only fans I have any real experience with are Fractal and Noctua fans (and Corsair's cheapo fans they include with their cases if you count those) and I know for sure the Fractal fans are worth it, least in my experience.

I think I'll go with the Pure Wings 2 for now. If the prices go down on the Silent Wings 2, I'll get those.

Thanks for the help @Kloaked and @WoodenMarker
