So i've been trying to work my way around this error but it keeps coming back. At first i thought it was a fault somewhere in my OS. I upgraded to Windows 10 then performed a clean install. The game seemed to run fine for couple of days, then the error came back. This occurs mostly during the initial loading when trying to connect to GTA Online or while loading from freeroam to jobs and vice versa. With Story mode i've never experienced this so far.

^ That is what i keep getting. And what makes this even more weird is that it only happens when i launch the game in DX 11 mode. If i switch down to DX 10 this never happens. I tried contacting R* support, but haven't received any useful tips on how to resolve this. If anyone knows what's going on and a possible solution please let me know.

PC Specs:

GPU:GeForce GTX 960 Gigabyte IX OC 2GB Edition

There is a thread on the Steam forums with about 2,700 posts on this error.

Long story short switching to DX10 mode and underclocking your GPU bellow stock values have helped some but they are not 100% guaranteed to work.

This started popping up for me yesterday and it's the first time GTA5 has ever crashed on me. Many possible " fixes", but nothing concrete.

I guess i will try underclocking my gpu and see what happens..

Also, with every gpu driver release i always perform a clean driver install, so i doubt that it is the root of the issue. If it was i'd probably have issues in other games aswell

And no, by switching to dx 10 the only thing i get is not so fancy graphics. No FPS issues at all.
