It will be pretty close. Wont be 144 always and will get some drops more than likely, but this is a good choice.

It wont be close in most major AAA games (some yes) but as time goes on less and less, should be good for 1440p 60+ though, my 780ti handles that so a 980ti should get 60 in everything at1440p Ultra

I'd hope it's more than that. My SLI 970 run most games ultra-high settings over 100 FPS. I'm wondering what games we are talking about now... I haven't purchased a new game in a while.

980ti furyx

980Ti, even though it's not really enough for 1440P 144Hz with good settings.

Metro, GTA V, Witcher 3, Shadow of Mordor,  etc most new ones, it does get over 60 but not over 100

980ti gets 75 FPS (56min) on Metro last light at 1440p Ultra,

It still stands 980ti  (980 would be ok too I guess, or a 390/290x, 970 MAYBE at a push)

Haven't played Mordor, Witcher, or GTA 5 on my 1440p yet. I have metro installed so I'll go try it.

Its a pretty demanding game, especially when maxxed out

Yes, very. Just played like 5 minutes of it and got an average of about 70-75. Max was about 85 minimum was 60. Not too bad with things attacking you and smoke everywhere.

So the 980Ti will probably be about 85-90 average.

Even with 1440p if you want 60 FPS maxed out on pretty much all games I would go with at least a 980 or SLI 970. If you don't mind bumping down the quality then maybe a single 970.
