I wouldn't worry about it unless you plan on charging laptops from the hub.

I've built 3 PC's, but none for myself... In fact, I'm using an iMac that my dad bought for me as my desktop. Awkward...

Please don't say "SSD drive." By doing so, you are literally saying "Solid State Drive Drive" and causing my brain cells to commit suicide. The same applies to HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express).

youll only get the power delivery 2.0 benefits if you use a usb 3.1 hub, if you use a 2.0 or 3.0 hub (the plug that goes into your pc i mean) you might get power issues.

so if I get a usb 3.1 hub I dont need one which is powered? But if I use a usb 3.0 hub I'd need to get a powered one?

I'm asking because I use an audio interface and a usb midi controller with my other peripherals on my current pc without a hub and it consequently slows my mouse movement down by a bit.

As far as I know having been forced to learn this since I got a Nexus 5X (has a Type C connector for charging) only type C connection hubs can pump out the watts. The type A connector must always have a resistor limiting the current to the previous USB specification to avoid damage, even USB 3.0 and 3.1 ones. So it has to be type C to get to the higher power output.
