tbh sli hybrid cards would be good if you have the space for the coolers

The hybrid would work good with any other 980Ti because of less internal heat output.

Good luck, Have fun, Build PC, and have a Wii and PS2 as your only consoles.

Yep, but I'd run the hybrid as the lower card as you don't have to worry about the temperatures with the top card restricting airflow. If you have room, definitely get a second hybrid and keep it all nice and quiet

how much of a performance loss would there be if i took the hybrid back and got a reference 980 ti?

Evga doesn't factory overclock the hybrids, so the only thing you'll really be losing is acoustic and thermal performance. Why would you want to take it back? You can sli and vendor's as long as it's the same gpu

You should be able to play anything maxed at 1440 and very very high if not max most at 4K.

and if i were to get a custom watercooling loop, what waterblock would i need to get for the 980ti hybrid?

What resolution and games are you playing that require two 980ti's. If you have the room just go with two hybrids as they're super quiet and mine overclock pretty well for a reference pcb.

What numbers are you trying? Currently I'm at +150 core 500mhz on memory, and plus 29mv.

140 on the gpu, 80 on the memory. and 12 on the mv. which wasnt stable. it was close. but not quite.  i didnt really get really far on overclocking. this was a first for overclocking anything for me.

One thing you can do if that stock fan gets loud is buy something like a fractal Venturi static pressure, or a sp120 and put it on your motherboard to control and have it set at a static 900rpm for the Venturi, it'll be silent, and run cooler than the stock fan. I had the stock fan pulling for a while with a low noise adapter in line from the graphics card until I replaced it with a thermal take riing. That stock fan is pretty bad for acoustics. Moves air though.

Did you update to the newest drivers? They seek to be causing stability problems

get another hybrid - ggez - I wouldn't bother with a custom loop... unless you go sub 30 degrees there is no clocks to be gained from water cooling... the hybrids are quiet enough to not warrant a custom loop.
