LAN Booting time

Go to solution Solved by Wombo,

I got the cmd output, now what do I do with this?

In the bottom right of your desktop on the taskbar (you may have to expand the list of icons) right click on the icon that indicates your internet connection status and click "open network and sharing center". In the left hand column chose "change adapter settings". From here right click on the adapter you are currently using (Local Area Connection if wired) and select properties, click yes on UAC if needed. From here you will need to set your Internet Protocol Version 4, and if required version 6, settings. Just highlight the protocol you want to change and select properties.

Before you change any of the settings ensure you have all the needed information ready at hand so you can fill out the required fields. You will need a valid IP address for your subnet, the subnet mask and default gateway. You will also need at least one DNS server address. A second address can be given as an alternate in case the first DNS server goes down.

Once you are ready to go just select "use the following IP address" and input the required information for your network. Do this for the IPv6 protocol if you need to as well. You can revert any of these changes and go back to a dynamic DHCP learned address at any time by selecting "Obtain IP address automatically". Also just be aware that for any changes in addressing to be applied and for the network adapter to regain full function you need to close the Local Area Connection Properties window.

So I have a problem with my LAN network;

I built myself a new PC that boots and logs in with a key in about 2 sec to my desktop. I really love this about my new pc but now every time that I access the internet through my browser the LAN-connection drops out (still says it's connected) then it says there's a problem (normal icon but with yellow triangle) and then it disconnects and automatically reconnects and from there on it works (although most of the time at about a third of the speed). I should probably mention I have a PowerLAN which is fairly new so I doubt that's the case.

How do I get the LAN connection to keep staying on so I can instantly start browsing?

Thanks in advance.

That's a DHCP issue most likely. Try giving your computer a static IP directly in the computer's NIC settings. You will need to know your subnet mask, default gateway and DNS server(s) of choice; as well as a valid IP address you can use within your LAN. You can gather all this by issuing the following command in a command prompt on a computer that is receiving an address via DHCP.

ipconfig /all

Gather the necessary information and put it into your adapter under the IPv4 settings. If you use IPv6 you will also need to fill in the information for that protocol as well. It may also be a good idea to go ahead and reserve this address within your router's DHCP settings just to ensure you don't have any conflicts in the future.

If you need any help just post the output of the command listed above.

Here's hoping it isn't that power-line adapter causing your issues.

It seems to work, thanks! If I don't post anything here it'll be solved!
