Comfortable Headphones

Byte11

I need a pair of headphones that are REALLY comfortable. I only use headphones when it is noisy, so they need to be close-back. I will be using this mostly for gaming, but I do travel a lot and I go on flights that are more than 15 hours often. I also listen to some electronic music, so headphones that sound decent for that would be nice. I also want good bass. My budget is ~$100.

I own the HyperXCloud 1's and in my opinion they're comfortable and great for me. HyperX 1's or 2's is what I recommend.

I'd say Takstar Pro80 or their identical clone, the Gemini DJ HSR-1000. Neither has a removable cable, though. Sennheiser HD280 Pro are an option with a removable cable.

Discount anyone that recommends any of the ATH Mx0 headphones. They are not particularly known for comfort.

Maybe Bose Soundtrue around ear headphones?

NVX XPT100s are very comfortable. Although they are not very portable, and do not have a bass boost, but still offers accurate bass. Soundstage is enough for me to consider using for gaming.

I agree, but then we will have no threads to derail with our own conversations. :P

For the Cloud 1s it would be strange to use them for normal headphones since they will have the mic aux cord just dangling. I will agree that they have pretty comfortable pads, but they are pretty shallow. Lastly for closed headphones they lack bass (from what I remember, I haven't worn mine in a while).

Another vote for the NVX XPT100, which is my usual headphone recommendation under $100 aside from the Creative Aurvana Live.

SSL makes a valid point in needing a stickies headphone recommendation guide. A big rec. around these forums is the AT M50X and I'm sorry, but people miss great cans for half that cost.

Honestly, since the mic is detachable it's not a big deal. I was planning on buying the hyperx cloud, but people say that you can get more bang for your buck if you go with a regular headphone

Ok, thanks. I was already aware that the ATH mx's weren't extremely comfortable

Those headphones look like they are the most comfortable headphones in the world.... I will definitely do some research on them.

HD280 removable cable? I'm looking at mine right now and it doesn't have one.

You're right, it's the 380 that has the removable cable.

Takstar Pro80, Gemini DJ HSR-1000, and HyperX Cloud/Cloud2 are all the drivers and construction.  I assume the same materials.  My Cloud 1s came with a 4ft cord and a thingy you plug both the mic and headphone jacks into and makes it a single plug in.  In other words you can use the mic and headphones on a phone, and a perfect length for travel too.  Comfortable as heck, good sound isolation, good sound, good build quality.
