I'm looking on opening a YouTube channel soon and I'm looking into a new camera to shoot video and take stills, my channel would focus on product reviews and gameplay with a overlay of myself in the corner. But my problem begins when I'm on the border of getting a DSLR for their wide usage and might be good for me getting good shots of my product I'm trying to review. But I don't know if the video quality will be as good as a comparably priced Camcorder, my budget is like $500-700 I had my eyes on the Canon t5i being able to look at myself while filming is key for me. Any suggestions would be awesome thank you

Check one of the links in my signature.

If you are willing to spend time, effort and a bit of money, a DSLR/Mirrorless type of camera can produce better quality video than a camcorder.

But if you want something easy to use, you can use anywhere without too much effort, a good camcorder will produce very good video too.

Using a photo camera for video will always require other accessories beyond just the camera body and the lens (stuff like memory cards and batteries are already included).  With a camcorder, quite often you don't really need that many extra accessories.

EDIT: Let me rephrase myself.

Both a DSLR/Mirrorless and a good camcorder will produce quality video.  The difference will mainly be the look and feel of the video, due to differences in sensor size.

I went the DSLR route and its been fantastic as I use the camera for product shots etc.

I had to get a powered battery gizmo as I was running my batteries on the DSLR down to quick, so the gizmo thing I purchased is a fake battery that runs direct from the power socket....

A must have if your using a DSLR as a webcam...

Also, getting windows to recognize a DSLR as webcam is a pain and I used SPARKOCAM to fix that issue.... :)

Just doing the best I can with the limited knowledge I have
