is there any way to keep the speakers plugged in when the headset is plugged in and just pick witch one the sound should come out of? the headset is USB

on the bottom right of your screen you should have a representation of a speaker icon.

right click on it and open playback devices.

to set either to play sound, set them as default communication device/default device in that list.
