So i am an avid fan of movies and TV...i watch a ton of movies and tv that i get [legally might i add] from VUDU.com

As many can tell from my signature, i have a lot of storage space in my desktop.

the drives in my pc plus the drives in my current drive bay are about 10TB total.

I would like to downsize my tower to a smaller and more simple affair as well and move my drives from my bay in to a seperate mATX desktop.

The only problem is i dont know what parts would be good for a fast and small storage box.

I need essentially a whole computer.

-CPU [lower price = AMD? but i dont care eitherway]

-mATX mobo [with lots of SATA ports for drives obv]

-RAM [At least 4 gigs?]

-PSU

-mATX Case [something Red/Orange please]

-Cooling [meaning extra fans or a CPU AiO. I assume a small box with a lot of drives constantly going will get damn hot]

-eSATA connection [i have a controller card on my main pc to connect to the drive bay i have now]

only i thing i dont need are the drives lol.

THE KEY THING to keep in mind here is price to performance. I do not want to spend, nor do i have a lot of, money to spend on this project. Keep it close to 500USD please.

So please..descend on PCPP and help a brother out <3

Budget ?

500USD sounds like a good number to me. No GFX card needed since it will just be for movies so that will save a lot of money lol

Thats awesome. Theres a couple things i would change to be honest like id change out the case and swap that drive for an ssd but otherwise thank you so much :D

You mind doing an AMD build just so i can see the price diff?

overkill don't you think? he doesn't need a 500$ media player I'd do something much cheaper. like i3-4170 and 6gb of ram with huuuuuge storage. like 20 TB's of storage.

If you have a build to contribute then by all means please link me to a PCPP build <3

the mobo is more expensive cause its the only one I could find that was mATX and came with 8 6gb/s Sata ports
also the case comes with 8 internal 3.25 inch bays.

well dont give me a list of all off brand crap parts though lol. going for the perfect Price to performance ratio for a streaming box.

basically speaking, follow the guidelines in OP xD

off brand? the only uncommon one in there is the RAM and a lot of people use that. besides you shouldn't be choosing by brand.

its you're money do what ever you want. just realize also I did follow you're guidelines and I added as many Sata ports as possible. as in 8 sata ports with 8 internal 3.5 inch bays with the case.
