hey guys I've just started building my pc and ive been using this site "http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator" to find what power supply i need, they suggested a 750w power supply for these parts.

-intel i7 6700k 4.8ghz 1.33v

-16GB DDR4 2400mhz

-msi gtx970 1450-1500mhz

-3 SSD

-1 3TB HDD

-corsair h80i GT

-4 120mm fans

i was going to get a corsair rm750w power supply but had the idea of putting second 970 in my pc in the future and realized a 750w power supply wont be enough for 2 gtx 970s at what im overclocking at and i don't want to buy a second power supply in the future when i get another 970 to suit both 970s, if i get a bigger power supply now, lets say a corsair rm1000 when i only have 1 gtx 970 in my pc, will it short circuit my computer? and id also like your opinions on what i should do about my power supply, should i get a 750w power supply and get a bigger one when i get another 970 or should i get one bigger than 750w straight from the start even tho im only running a 970 at the beginning and getting a 970 later on?

650W is enough for two 970s. See if the EVGA B2 or G2 can be afforded :)

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

i went to a computer store and they said a 750w is enough for just a gtx 970 pushed at its max with a processor pushed at its max

They're wrong. I can push my 970, 660 Ti, and 3570K to the max and I use a 750W PSU.(My 660 Ti can more power than a 970)

when you over clocked your cpu did u change the voltage and what is it clocked at? and how far did you push your 970 and 660ti?

I apologize for the delay.

On to your question, my 3570K is at 4.2GHz with 1.184V applied, my 970 is at 1.46GHz with 1.25V applied, and my 660 Ti was at 1.2GHz with 1.2V applied.(I lowered it down because it's dedicated to folding@home)

and how much wattage do you have left after all that? because im using more voltage then you for my cpu and id like some head room after having my 2 970's in there too
