Does overclocking the memory clock speed affect gaming performance much? I can do a +500 OC in MSI Afterburner (8000MHz) and be stable in Heaven Benchmark, but not sure if it is worth it?

There's no way you're hitting +500 stable on a msi gaming card. Hynix memory usually can't overclock that high.

 

But to answer your question overclocking the memory does help fps.

Im stable doing 4k gaming at 8002 (+499). With my le card

At 1080p gamimg i generally drop it down to +399.

Did you not notice a performance increase after +400 with 1080P?

I don't have a 980ti, but when I add +500 to what was my 980 I noticed a fps increase.

I don't have a 980ti, but when I add +500 to what was my 980 I noticed a fps increase. 

Generally it seems that every bit your can add helps, but the biggest thing is getting that first +300 or so. The less vram you have the more important memory speed is (also the narrower the bus width, but that isn't an applicable discussion for Nvidia cards).

Yeah, I agree it does help a lot past +300. I was able to get +600 stable at stock volts but after the driver issue/updates I couldn't.
