Is Ebay Worth It?

Go to solution Solved by iamdarkyoshi,

if it ends up being a fake or not as the description said, ebays buyer protection should refund/replace the item

I want to get a new laptop for gaming and also for work. The combined ssd and hdd in the rog listed makes this fit for purpose. Also it has a very powerfull GPU.

The only problem with this is that it is from Ebay. While it is a huge discount of rrp is it worth getting. I have never bought from ebay before. I think the seller has a good reputation.

Please give me your thoughts

What's the eBay price?

US $1,249.00

Unless there's taxes or something, it would be cheaper to just... get it there. Heck, if you don't choose the SSD, the price drops to $999, you can easily buy a 120GB SSD for under $100, so that would be even cheaper still.

Are you sure? That's more than the ASUS product page. http://store.asus.com/us/item/201503AM110000029

@ishdafish_ It is cheaper from the ASUS website than anywhere else.

Considering he's linking a UK ebay link, he's probably located in the UK. I'd say go for it if it's the laptop you want. I personally don't like gaming laptops though because of the low battery life.

If he is from the UK he will pay A LOT in delivery, and customs charges

$35 shipping, $275 import charges

BTW not all gaming laptops have poor battery life, just saying

He probably knows that. You can't avoid taxes. And I'm on the move a lot so I need like an 8 hour battery life minimum. I don't game with my laptop anyway so it would just be a waste for me. I game on my desktop when I want to and I use my test bench if I go to LANs.

that is fair enough (there are gaming laptops that have 8 hours batter life with the GPU disabled)

Example, Alienware 13  - 11 Hours

Yeah but then what's the point of getting a gaming laptop if you're going to keep the gpu disabled all the time? I rather get an ultrabook. I really like the X1 carbons. I have one I'm trying to sell because I want to get one that has a touchscreen instead but I kind of want to open it and just use it as well. The only bad thing about that laptop is the no touchscreen.

The GPU is disabled during standard tasks so you have a fully functional laptop, and it has the power there to run games (or other graphically intensive programs) when you need to, if you are somebody tat is on the move a lot, then it makes perfect sense, I would never buy a laptop with no dGPU since I like to game when travelling / on on the move / on breaks etc and edit photo and videos/rendering etc

I honestly dont like touch screens on laptops, the screen is too far away from where your hands rest for it to be comfy,

One reason I love the rMBP is the trackpad, its like using a lovely little touch screen, its literally amazing

When I say I'm on the move a lot I just mean I use my laptop in class and at the library or other places like that not that I'm travelling. I still come home to my desktop every night. You use the touchscreen in conjunction with the trackpad and keyboard. It's not like a tablet where you only use the touchscreen. A lot of the time, it's much faster to just hit something on the screen instead of moving the cursor across the screen. You get used to it after a while.
