First time building a PC

My birthday was recently, and I have decided to put the money towards making a computer. I will be getting help from my brother with the physical portion of building, but I need help on the specs. He hates budgets, and I'm going for around or under 300 dollars, and would like to use a mini iTX for the first time, and will upgrade from there. I was wondering about good mini iTX motherboards with GPU slots? Any help is appreciated.

if its just the tower i would go with something like this then buy a gpu when you have some more money, maybe a 750 ti

I have a TV I can use, and spare peripherals. Thank you so much, I will check this list out. I know it's not much, it's temporary until I get a job, and can actually get better parts.

I'm a pro with budgets, any specific reason why you have to go Mini Itx?

Personally I would recommend going on Ebay, getting an Intel Q6600 which is a 2.4Ghz Quad Core CPU, an Intel Motherboard that supports 8GB's of DDR2, 8GB's of DDR2 RAM, and then a GTX 760. After you get all that you'll be sitting around $200 which will be enough for you to get a PSU, Case and HDD. A build like that will actually kick ass in most current games.

 

EDIT: Trust me, I just did this recently and it was 100% worth it.

I'd suggest to make more money and then buy new PC, its what I did. Now i am rocking hell of a PC (you can see my signature).

 

If you buy new PC now, what you are gonna do with it when you make more money for the better one as you mentioned. Better save the 300$

 

And you didn't say what kind of games you want to run. WOW, LOL, Dota 2 and Battlefield like games or newer Titles like the Witcher 3 and etc?

Sorry, I had a thing organized to write when I was making this, and lost it. I'm just looking to play things like CSGO, maybe League, and small indie games. I'm going to be saving up for probably a work/school focused laptop next, as while it's temporary, this should last me some time. I was thinking about waiting till Cyber Monday, and seeing what parts that I was looking at go on sale, if any at all.

Your best bet is 860K, FX-6300, i5-4460 or i3-6100 but you should consider high MHz RAM for it!
