I have the EK-XRES D5 PWM pump and res combo. The link to which --> https://shop.ekwb.com/ek-xres-140-d5-pwm-incl-pump  . It has 2 cables, one for power and the other goes in to a fan controller (i'd assume... it fits?) whenever the controller cable is plugged in to the mobo the pump will not turn on at all but when I unplug it the pump runs just fine. Why is that? i feel like if its running at full speed all the time it will wear out early.

My current Rig (Memphis) --> http://pcpartpicker.com/p/jQYWpg

It's a PWM controlled pump you want to make sure in the BIOS that it's setup to run at a certain speed or change that header to be PWM enabled if possible or put it onto the CPU header.

Alright I'll give that a shot. Im on an asus maximus gene V1 mobo. Would that normally be in the spot where I'd control fan speed?

in the BIOS that's usually the monitor page for Asus I believe, they also have a software option with AIsuite you can install to vary pump speeds and set temperature curves.

This is very dependent on the motherboard, my Maximum Gene VI has terrible fan control (no graphs, just plain min rpm/temp and max rpm temp where you punch in a number), basicly all AIsuite does is tell me what my temps are and the rpm stuff is running at.
