Yeah i guess

If you want to break records, you'll need a 5960X and a few gallons of liquid nitrogen.

EDIT: maybe a 5830K

the top two world records are FX processors

the third is a celeron

and the extreme edition intel CPUs are some of the worst for overclocking

oh, I thought bigger heatsink contact = more cooling capabilities. I stand corrected.

Although, the guy with a can of liquid nitrogen and a 5960X at PAX was pretty cool

4.5ghz is its stable overclock? or higher?

I've seen G3258's above 4.8Ghz.  I think Linus got his to a stable 4.8Ghz.  If you want to really break a world record, I'd try the Fx-8320.  Those already have a high bclk and boost up to 5.0Ghz at stock.

It's a great CPU when you have the right cooler

One of the best topics I've ever seen is http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/53190-i-can-not-get-hard/

no, overclocking records are done without the IHS for better cooling

and a CPU with less cores is easier to overclock
