Hi guys. I'm currently mid session of Assassins Creed Unity (Second run through) and checked my bank.
Got plenty of money and was gonna do a little CPU + GPU Upgrade to my already half decent system, I have my CPU in check and I know I should have enough juice in the PSU to run it but as for my GPU :/

So currently I am running:

  • Corsair RM 850
  • Intel I5-4670k (4.5GHZ OC)
  • 16GB Corsair Vengence 1600hmz
  • AMD R9 290x (Club3D Royal Ace)
  • Corsair H60 (Felt I should add, Even my case is Corsair)

My upgrade would be

  • Intel i7-4790k
  • AMD R9 290x (Dual crossfire)

Should I upgrade to like 1000W PSU? What do yous think. Ive built like 4 PCs in my life and all really only needed 600W (apart from my dads which has 500w PSU)

I feel I should go to 1000w but I thought I would ask around as I have little experience.

850W will be enough.  Also, an upgrade to the 4790k isn't worth it.

What CPU would you say is the better upgrade then?

I would say save the money.  The 4670k isn't oudated yet.

I was going for the i7 for streaming to be honest.

My i5 does a decent job with some games but others I need to crank the quality down a bit.

I know most people have a streaming PC but I don't have that type of money. (says the guy buying a new R9 290x and CPU)

I think your planned upgrade is pretty good. 1000w will give you a nice headroom for heavy overclocking(if you ever need to) and since you're wanting to stream the i7 is ideal. You don't really need to get a new psu but it never hurts to get a better one.

See I did think that. I know from alot of videos from YouTube I have saw who do alot of streaming they have either a decent i5 in their "Streaming PC" or a hefty I7 in their main PC to make up for it.

But on the topid of not being worth it. The i7 4770k and 4790K - whats the real difference there? CPU boss has them at like .5 of a difference

Better tim. I'd go with the 4790k.

The 4790k run alot cooler then the 4770k, allows for a better temp headroom for OCing. And I think they (4790k) are binned a little better too compared to the 4770k but I'm not completely sure.

Over my head a little

Yes you are LOL, crossfire work across generations. Quite well actually. Read my write up in this section. Took me two day of testing to write.

I sent you a PM bud. It gets a little complicated now that you've thrown the 390(X) into the mixture.
