X99 or Z170

DDynamite

I need help for my set up. The uses are for streaming and recording games for my youtube channel. I ma deciding between x99 or z170.

X99:

2 extra cores will help a lot with recording software as well as video editing.

Professional line up of chipset which is replaced every 4 to 5 years unlike the Z series which is updated every year.

Z170:

Hackintoshable in the future. (Z series mobos have always been hackintoshable)

Usb 3.1 A and C

Better single core performance

I forgot to mention i am a big user of OS X so it would be nice to make a hackintosh.

The 2 extra cores are not that relevant when it comes to recording with CPU intensive programs like OBS cuz i can use a capture card

You say Z170 has better single core performance, but OC'ing the X99 CPUs to 4.2/4.4/4.6GHz puts them on par if not faster than a Z170.

If you've got the money, go X99 just because its got more cores - which should be more useful in the future i guess :D

"If in doubt, flat out."

No guys my point is whether the ability to hackintosh the Z170 outweighs X99's power and expandability

The Mac Pro is based on the X99, so I don't see how it's not hackintoshable.

LTT did a video on making a Hackintosh with an X-series motherboard. I'd make sure that X99 boards definitely cannot be used for Hackintosh.
