hd 4870 to what?

I have this Asus HD-4870 , i was thinking would something like gtx470-560ti be a worthy upgrade, if i can get them cheap.

Rest of the specs

- Asus p5q-pro

-C2D E8500 @3.4Ghz (i think it can go further)

-8Gb ddr2

-Antec neopower 620w (or was it 650?)

-Asus 4870 1Gb

-2x 1tb wd greens in raid (7 year's old :D)

-basic "office like" case, no fans (yet)

Upgrading since csgo/lol are not playable.

1680x1050 is the resolution.

Thinking about upgrading to c2q too :)

6870 is what I'd get - same as a 560 Ti in terms of power but MUCH cooler and quieter.

Same.

Perhaps a used 270x if you can snipe one like I did mine. XP

Getting something like a GTX 660 or HD7850/7870 is a better idea imo as they run cooler and perform better in most cases, but they'll be more expensive than GTX 470 and GTX 560.

That's the thing, im super low on budget, since i'm saving some for decent c2q (about 30€)

But how about compared to 470 and 560ti?

btw the 470 would be reference cooler.

not looking for ultimate silence or temps but something that would exhaust from the case

Reference Thermi coolers will result in temps above 90*C and hair-drier sound. Avoid.

560 Ti and 470 are the same performance more or less

Don't get a reference 470, unless you want to use your PC as a stove.

A 560Ti would be better if they are at the same price.
