Hello! Let me explain this quick.. I've been having this same setup and same intake/outtake fan locations with same fan speed, for almost a year. I've also been running my GPU on stock clock since i got it and on 43% fan speed, i've never reach above 85 degrees celsius. But this week it has started to go up to 95 degrees celsius in games i've never had any problems in before! My PC is free from dust so thats not the problem..

I have hundreds of hours in certain games which always have been running below 85, but now suddenly it goes up to 95 sometimes for some reason...

Btw, once it reaches 95 its really hard to push down the temp, i have to keep my fans at like 80% to get it down a bit.

Where are you getting these temps? Use something like MSI afterburner to see proper ones. Your GPU should probably be thermal throttling at those temps.

Maybe the sensor is bad, maybe the thermal paste went bad.

Its an Sapphire R9 280 (non x-version), I actually use MSI Afterburner to read the temps (why didn't i mention this earlier, im stupid..)! Im not sure what thermal throttling is but i get a warning where the fan speed increases quickly and then goes down again!

SPAS-ID: I cleaned the heatsink a few days ago, still got problems. I do not wanna reapply the thermal paste right now as it  void the warranty cuz sapphire are complete buttheads

OK. Thermal throttling is where the GPU slows down because it is too hot. For the 280, it would probably be 90 °C before it starts slowing down. Do you notice slow downs while playing games?

If you don't get any kind of slow downs, then the sensor is probably bad, and you'll have to RMA the GPU.

Nothing happens actually, no FPS drops/decreasing.. You are probably right about the sensor, this is totally f**ked up

You should probably contact Sapphire and request an RMA.

I heard they have really bad support, so should I try contact the store where I bought it or should i contact sapphire?

If you bought it from a store rather than online then you should return it. It's probably defective, so they would most likely accept the return.

If you bought it online, you may be able to return it. Depends on the site and its policy on returns. If you can't just return it, then you'll have to request an RMA through Sapphire.

Well, I bought it online :P I just read some crap on their site (the store) and it says they will take care of the product if it still got warranty.. I just send(ed) them an email and I hope I get an answer later this day! I come with more info later

First, look at your fan speed and try to make a custom fan curve. I had that exact card, back in september last zear and it never went above 72 degrees  at 55% fan-speed. Try to change the thermal paste and remounting the gpu cooler (that should work and solve your problem), that cooler is among the best the r9 280 has to offer. Do you have any case fans? There is a great video from Luke at vessel illustraiting this point.
