CPU Cooler Question

Go to solution Solved by zzenigmaxzz,

im assuming you mean this one yes this just an aftermarket fan on a heatsink... unknown which model it is since he doesn't say in the part list

edit: nvm someone asked in the comments its a Cooler Master Geminii M4

142830.b308da82500497053edab88d186f5d06.

On to the question.  Ive seen a completed build where the person added a fan for the cpu cooler but this one was facing the pc case window, my question is how do i do this?  Also, what heatsink would i get?  (i ask for a heatsink because it appeared the person had one under the fan.

Sorry if this is did not make sence.

some heatsinks are set to have air blown down on them instead of through them like this one http://pcpartpicker.com/part/noctua-cpu-cooler-nhl9a as well as most stock heat sinks

CPU: i5 6600k @ 4.6 ghz  Motherboard: Asus z170-a  Cooling: Corsair h80i GT GPU: EVGA GTX 970  Ram: G.Skill 2x8 gb ddr4 2400  PSU: EVGA G2 Supernova 550w  Case: Corsair 200r Storage: 250GB 850 EVO + 2x wd 1 tb drives

Again, Thank You!

Could you recommend one of the two?  (the noctua one you said before and the cooler master one).

if i was gonna get one i would get the Noctua NH-C14S but i prefer tower types myself for the beefier heatsinks

Would they be that much better?  Because i would give a few degrees for the system to look smoother but not after 10 degrees, even 5 degrees i would feel slightly guilty for.  The case would be a nzxt s340.

something like a nhd14 would have a pretty substantial decrease in temps plus with a bigger heat sink the fans have to run slower which means less noise
