What will it get?

Hydrogen1803

Hello guys,

So I was wondering, what kind of benchmarks will my R9 390 get on games like GTA5, the Witcher 3, and games of the like at medium to high settings? Should I get something better or stick with what I have? All help is appreciated, thank you.

Depends on the resolution, but for 1080p you're golden for the most part. Might have to turn a few settings down.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

What would you recommend that's a little bit better?

At 1080p a 390 is all you need - at 1440p for max settings you need a Fury

Well I got two but I'm not entirely "normal", a 390x would help and a Furry would really help. Problem is to max every game made and being made you need something like a 980ti or multiple GPUs. Pulling back a few settings you probably won't even notice the difference.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Max 1080p is fine with a 390 >.>

Yep, I'm adding a second GPU tomorrow and my build is just over a month old.

Nice, good luck with that, If I do that, it will be probably be when my build is around a year old or a little less.

Keep it in mind when choosing a PSU, helps with the cost later on.

Are you going to do anything besides gaming? like editing, uploading and all that stuff? if no, i can tell u right now u are wasting SOOOO much money on your cpu. there is absolutely no point in getting a cpu more expensive than your gpu.. thats stupid. save yourself like 100$ and get a 390x/gtx 980. and get a cpu that wont bottleneck your gpu like the i5 4590 or even 95 4460. if you do editing however and gaming on the side, then ok that cpu is alright.

your mobo also has 3 pcie x16 slots. no point wasting money on a sli/xfire mobo unless ur actually planning to do so in the future, save some more money on the mobo, and get more outa your graphics card. i guarantee you will regret the 390 if u had this amount of money. if you get a cheaper cpu and mobo, i can guarantee you 20%+ more performance

I am going to be doing light editing, so should I keep the i7? Oh and what mobo do you recommend?

nah you shouldnt keep the i7, its wayy to overkill. a 4690k will do the job definitely for light editing, if you dont mind the little bit less performance and save another $30 you can get the 4590. but the 4690k is good enough. not sure about your cooler though but yea. and motherboard, just get a cheap motherboard that supports lga 1150 cpus and can fit 1 gpu on it. example being any of the b85 series. and with that, you save $100+ 80-90 which is about 180-190$ more on your graphics card. 320$ + 180 is 500$... that will be about 490$ for the super clocked version from evga gtx 980, or a gigabyte 3x fan gaming 1 which is a really good cooler aimed for gaming ( hence the name gaming 1) for about 480$. and instead of your cpu cooler, if recommend the cooler master hyper 212 evo, more cfm, cheaper price, cant beat it for a budget air cooler. all of that added up, you have a good cpu which you can overclock to atleast 4.5ghz which is good for light editing too, (based on personal experience because i have the same cpu and cooler)

Depends on the Resolution. Witcher3 Performance is very good with the latest patches. GTA5 (which is an extreme demanding Game maxed out) FPS will go all over the Place. For 1080p your Card should do fine.

and with all your mail in rebate things, i remember the hyper 212 evo to be about 29$? so all that added up should come close to what your original build had.

p.s. i dont live in america so i had to research a lot of the prices, so soz if im wrong, idk what mail in rebate is except the fact the price is cheaper.

A mail in rebate has to be mailed in and they send you money back. Rarely works that way, usually they hope you forget about it
