I built my own computer a little while back, just a G3258 and a MSI PC-Mate Z87, and I threw in an old GTS 450. I haven't restarted it before, but apparently there is an issue. I've been trying to upgrade to Windows 10, but when it tries to restart, the screen goes off like it's turned off, the no signal symbol appears on the monitor like the computer is off, but the lights are on and the fans are whirring away. And once it's in that state, the power button doesn't turn it off; I have to flip the switch on my PSU if I want to shut it down. And of course, trying that only gave me the

"We couldn’t install Windows 10 0XC190010 – 0x20017, The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation"

Error

Please, how do I fix this?

Hopefully it's a software issue, but if it is a hardware issue, how do I fix that?

how old is the drive you're installing on? i'd try a new SSD or HDD

follow your topic if you want to know when people reply.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

1. i dont think your hardware is good for win 10 (its fresh and that stuff can happen)

2. if you turned off in middle of the OS install well it can end up like this

3. try to install at least windows 7 on your computer

4. BEFORE you even start that windows told you that your computer is compatibile with win 10 than i can tell you that its not 100% because there is no way that such fresh system has drivers for every possible hardware combination

5. screen problem seems a GPU one for me

CPU i5 6600k 4,4Ghz , COOLER Dark Rock 3 from BQ, RAM 16 GB of ddr 4 2800MHz from corsair,

 PSU EVGA 750 W GOLD G2, MOBO Msi z170A Gaming M3, CASE NZXT H440 Black/Blue,

GPU Geforce GTX 980 Gigabyte G1 Gaming,

STORAGE 1 SSD Samsung 850 Evo 250 GB and 1 HDD 500GB WD, Windows 8.1.

1. G3258 isn't that old, it's Z87 iirc. Might be Z97.

2. I didn't really have a choice.

3.I have Windows 7

4. Chances are it'll work though.

5. No, my monitor just shows when there's no signal; which means the GPU turns off, but not the rest of the computer.

1. NO MATTER HOW OLD HARDWARE IS there is a chance that drivers for that tihng aint rdy

and on the 5 part it can be still GPU fauilt or MOBO fault because if it turns off while the rest still is goin that means smth with power so even PSU can be smth to look at.

4. (sorry not chrononical;p) Yes they are it can run and fuck up most of your hardware or making strange things plus win 10 is like saying "hey ms can you please come in so i can let you watch my ass 24/7 even when i dont want to" which it does now but not 24/7 AND not if somebody turns of the shit out which you cant in win 10 ;P

So updating drivers might help then?

if such update exist because in most cases GPU dedicated is turn or on temponary  drivers before you install proper ones .  honestly i dont know about this one
