So I say first build it is actually my second build but my first was budget as hell and not too good which is what I'm on at the moment. So the plan here is to build a pretty monster PC that is within reason, so I won't be spending £2000 on 2 titans or anything silly but I am thinking this should demolish most games for the time being and do me pretty well. My main concern is that the powersupply might not work with all the parts i.e not have the right cables or not provide enough wattage, I am currently using a Corsair TX650M which I plan to transfer over to this new build so the main question is will it have the right stuff for my build and is the build good enough to play most new games on ultra?

Why would I not get that CPU is it too good or too bad? Also I heard the 970 is one of the best apart from a 980 or TITAN which dramatically jump in price?

Why do you need so much storage?

I like to not delete stuff so I tend to have tons of movies and games on my PC which rapidly fills the space up, I also like to watch stuff in 1080p and so obviously the files are pretty huge. Just personal preference really.

check my build above, has an I7 4790k and a 980ti for the same price

5tb is complete overkill, unless you need to store say, 1000 full-length movies on your PC.

Ok well it was just an idea I don't really mind getting 1 they were just on sale atm so I thought I should grab an extra for good measure but I'm not fussed getting rid of one. The main thing is everyone saying get the 980 over 970, is the difference really big because it is about £300 more than the 970 so I don't want to spend that much extra when I could just get a second 970 for cheaper.

EDIT:

I heard the processor I picked was particularly good because it was 6 cores and overclocks really well, what would the difference be like if I went with your build or would it not be noticeable? Is the better 980 worth it instead of a better CPU? Edit: To be honest can you explain the difference between the newer 6 core and the 4 core ones, is it better to get the 6 core and a 970 or a 4 core and a 980 because I don't know which is more important the CPu or GPU?

for gaming its completely pointless  to get that CPU especially if you are only running a 970, maybe if you were editing 4k movies or rendering 3d simulations

for gaming heck an i5 is good enough but the i7 4790k is very powerful

I would rather have a 980ti than a 6 core i7 that is  mostly useless, heck I edit movies, and game at 1440p on my 4770k

Your reasoning seems pretty legit and judging by your almost 20k posts I will presume you know what you are on about and if you use it and its fine then thats good enough for me. I will probably go for your build then but just to check a Corsair TX650M will definately have enough power and the correct cables to run this monster right?

Yeah Deffo.

Awesome since the PSU was my main worry for this build, my bro has a 970 so I knew that would work pretty well and heard the CPU was a monster but I think I will change it for ShadowCaptains build since a 980ti sounds like my games will do the job better and all that jazz.

650w should be fine, you can always overspec on one and get a bigger one if you need but AFAIK it will be fine

but yeah for gaming you want a better graphics card, the i7 is still a monster CPU, and more than you need for normal browsing and gaming, i produce all the footage for my YouTube channel on my 4770k and do lots of photography and video editing, its stupid fast

the x99 platform is really for creative pros, servers and those kinds of things, its not really a consumer thing

you are best served by getting a crazy GPU and maybe getting a nice 1440p monitor to match

(I just realised I didnt add any RAM to that build, what a failure, just grab 8-16gb of decent ram)

Aww man I just realised the RAM isn't on your build so that's another £100 so I will probably have to just get the extra hard drive later.

Edit: Actually I will just get 1 SSD instead of 2 and that will sort it out.

yeah sorry haha I forgot >D you could get a 980 instead, its still a beast, or get your second SSD later, one should do for now and you can pick up the other when you need the storage
