dp to hdmi

Go to solution Solved by Glenwing,

so converting HDMI to DP i would need an active adapter?

likewise i would need an active adapter for DVI to HDMI or VGA to DVI or HDMI?

DisplayPort (GPU) can go to an HDMI, Single-Link DVI-D, or VGA display.

HDMI (GPU) can go to a Single-Link DVI-D display.

Single-Link DVI-D (GPU) can go to an HDMI display.

Single-Link DVI-I (GPU) can go to an HDMI or VGA display.

Any other combination will need a converter ("active adapter").

Any of the above combinations, but involving a Dual-Link DVI connector instead of Single-Link, will also work but it will only operate in Single-Link mode.

would i need a active adapter for hdmi to displayport? hdmi monitor and displayport GPU

DisplayPort outputs send HDMI signals when connected to an HDMI device.

No, you would only need an active adapter in the opposite direction.
