Most cannot upgrade the CPU or GPU. Some rarer modern models can, but hardly a common feature.

Most of the time, Memory and HDD's can be swapped/upgraded.

EG SSD instead of a laptop HDD, or doubling the Memory with higher capacity sticks.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

5-6 years ago you could swap out a CPU and/or GPU on a laptop most of the time but nowadays they're soldered onto the motherboard

Sometimes you can upgrade the CPU if it has a CPU socket instead of just a soldered CPU and support for a CPU better than what it already has. RAM and SSD upgrades are definitely doable though. Some laptops have an upgradable GPU but those are usually thick high end gaming laptops and such.

Some are. Some aren't. Really thin laptops and cheap Walmart specials have soldered CPUs most of the time but AFAIK a lot of laptops still have CPU sockets.

From what I've been seeing and reading, anything after Ivy Bridge was done using BGA soldered chips.

Only exceptions so far have been "extreme edition" chips and that is still not proven as a rule.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

RGB everywhere.

It might just be because all my laptops are Dell Latitude/Precision models from at least a few years ago. The only soldered CPUs in any of them are in the E4300/E4310 ultrabooks.

CPU - Possible, if you find the same soket one.

GPU - on your model, not possible.

RAM - Possible

Storage - Possible

Here is a cool trick if you want to add a SSD and keep your HDD. There are "cases" that turn your optical drive in to a 2.5" bay.

More advanced upgrade would be, removing the lan card or something and use an external gpu. DIY Perks on YouTube has a good vid on the subject.

NO MODERN LAPTOPS CAN UPGRADE THE CPU.

There exist only five still-selling laptops in existence that can upgrade their CPU, and they all use desktop CPUs (one X79 chipset laptop and four Z170 chipset laptops).

Most laptops could have upgraded CPU 2-5 years ago (or maybe more).

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.
