980 ti vs 970

namarino

I'm going to be building a new pc this Christmas and I am going to be gaming at 1440p. Is the 980ti worth it? Or is the 970 just as good for this? And also I am looking at the 980 ti hybrid from EVGA. Do they have something similar for the 970? I really like the idea of water cooling my GPU, but I don't want to do custom cooling. Thanks a lot!

I would go with the 980ti as it's more powerful then a 970 and would be able to drive games at 1440P better.

The 980ti is of course better. You will get higher framerates.

You could watercool a 970 with an AIO, but you'd need something like the Kraken G10 GPU fan block to cool the VRMs.

If you have the budget, the 980ti Hybrid from EVGA is an awesome card and will last you a long time.

I used to be quite active here.

980ti

it will last you a lot longer in the future, at least 3-5 years or even more while still playing games at high/ultra

If you have money burning a hole in your pocket, get the 980ti hybrid.

If you want to save a few (quite a few) bucks, get a 390X and be happy with very good 1440p performance.
