As the titles states there is a PC upgrade happening in the near future. My current budget is around 700$ and I want some help deciding what parts to get.

Current PC is a Radeon Hd7750, AMD FX-4100, 8 gigs of 1600mhz RAM and a 500-550W PSU (not sure).

Since I am on a pretty slim budget I am thinking of getting parts over time, starting with the big upgrades (MOBO, CPU & GPU). My thoughts so far: GTX960 4GB, i5 4690k and MSI B85M. In sweden that is my entire budget.

What are your thoughts on this?

If your not OCing get a 4460 and h87 or h97 (whats the point of having a unlocked CPU on a locked mobo)

If you like NVidia's features the 960 is fine

Although the 380 has better performance than the 960 but no gud features

Yeah I've been mixed on the whole AMD vs Nvidia GPU situation. AMD has more GBs and bit rate but I like Nvidia cards. To me they have better drivers and features

380.

Drivers are really solid on AMD's side for the most part and Gaming Evolved won't be required to download drivers :^)

Great point, I have never built a PC myself so any kind of help is appreciated! I will check the prices of everything once I get home

If you go with a B85 motherboard no point in spending money on an unlocked CPU you won't be able to overclock...just get the i5-4460 or i5-4590 and spend the money you've just saved to upgrade graphics card tier..re-use your memory.

What PSU do you own right now?

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |
| GPU: MSI RTX 3080Ti Ventus 3X OC  RAM: 32GB T-Force Delta RGB 3066mhz |
| Displays: Acer Predator XB270HU 1440p Gsync 144hz IPS Gaming monitor | Oculus Quest 3 VR

Yeah, changed it to the i5 4460 and a H97 mobo. I will check once I get home, that is also one of my concerns..

see..if your PSU is ''okay to use'' unit you could probably run a GTX 970 on this PSU since it's a very efficient card and 500W is plenty for the intel i5-4460 and GTX970 system so long as the PSU is not a bad firehasard unit.

You will need to tell us exactly what PSU unit you have in there...this will greatly impact what you can do with your 700$ budget...you can defenetly fit a GTX 970 and the board and i5 CPU in there if the PSU is fine to use...this machine will pull like 350W maximum from the wall under full load but if the PSU is crap it would be sad if it took down your new hardware you know...yeah.

Not sure if the GTX970 would fit into my budget though. The PSU however is an AXP-500P12P, rated at 500W and has an efficiency of 75-77%. And yes, it would really suck if the PSU did kill it. :/

Would I gain/lose anything by going with the mobo Gigabyte GA-Z97X-GAMING 3? I found a site where I could save around 100$ but there were no H8/97 on there and it feels like that would be a way better deal.
