ive heard some people say evga psus will fail on you corsair is more reliable is this true

 

Nope, depends on the model, and for most purposes either are fine

it depends on the model... both evga and corsair have good... and not so good models 

 

for evga the good ones are gs g2 and p2 and for corsair the good ones are rm and ax

Depends which model you're talking about.

 

CX series for Corsair need to die.

RM are alright.

AX are cool.

 

G2 series is cool from EVGA.

Some of EVGA's PSU's are almost unmatched in their respective price category (e.g. 550/650 GS/G2). The EVGA 550 G2 got a perfect score from JonnyGuru.

Corsair does have EVGA trumped with the AX1500i, though. But not many people will buy a PSU of that size, so it's not as relevant. 

You do have to look out for a few of EVGA's PSU's such as the NEX650G, that's not so good.

Moral of the story: Always read reviews of power supplies. If it doesn't have a review, don't buy it.
