27" 1440p IPS

Bl00dgod
Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

do you know the name of the new asus?

yes it's the new swift which will be IPS Gsync 1440p 165hz

it's the ASUS PG279Q

https://www.asus.com/Monitors/ROG-SWIFT-PG279Q/

it looks good man!

actually i use a 1080p samsung s22a200b 22" ( 5ms reaction ) display

and i upgrade my rig with an evga 980ti superclocked acx 2.0 so 1440p shouldnt be a problem

1440p gaming is my main target and i think ips should be better than my actual ... i dont play many fps games

and is gsync worth the additional 200bucks?

i dont want to spend like 700 bucks for a display with gsync and stuff while the freesyncs cost only 50% of them... while the adaptive sync is a standard that comes with display port

"pick the display for your gpu.... not pick the right gpu for your display" someone said at LTT

and why are there displays like the "Acer XB280HK" with 4k + gsync and a lower price oO"

regards

Most of the higher end 1440p panels with gsyns are also 144hz which is a big boost to gaming smoothness!

the cheap 4k monitors are TN, plus 4k has its own drawbacks

No IPS

No 144hz

To the point, G-sync is a nice thing to have but some can't justify the price. At work I have a Dell U2711. It's a 1440p, IPS 60Hz monitor. I recommend it. It's ballin'.

1.Is g-sync worth it: YES

2.I agree that what gpu team (team Red or Green) you pick should be what monitor you either have or will soon go with.
3.If the 700$ you are referring to is the 1440P, 144hz with g-sync Monitor than the money is well worth its cost. The monitor should stay relevant to gaming for at least 3 year to come.
4. The 4k  Monitor not having a high enough refresh rate kills the monitor for most if not all gamers, the current strongest single Gpu is not able to have respectable frames for 4k so the scope of potential buyers is even smaller.

Well as for the price its because they are not being sold out,

ah ok then i need a 1440p at like 144hz.... but gsync? 200bucks difference in pricing

in my opinion nvidia should drop the proprietary expensive modules and use the same adaptiv sync standard as amd that comes with displayport

Have a look at some of the korean monitors. I'm planning on getting an X-Star DP2710. Looks really attractive. and is going for like, $200 on some places.

You could always get the Wasabi Mango, 40" 4K monitor, can do 120Hz at 1080p and supports Freesync! :D and it's under $700.

Variable refresh rate (Gsync or Freesync) is VERY nice, 144hz is nice, IPS is nice, 1440p is AMAZING...you want all of that right?

If you do not already own the 980ti you might want to consider an R9 Fury card or maybe even a R9 390X or something along with a freesync monitor as this would end-up being much cheaper...but AMD is beating a dead horse fighting an up-hill battle right now they will most likely end-up losing so going with an AMD monitor at this point is taking a big guess because who knows where AMD will be in a couple years and if they are no longer able to provide high-end graphics solution your freesync monitor might end-up being a disapointment but worst scenario you buy two FuryX to run in crossfire...this should hold you until you buy another monitor...if AMD go bankrupt those card's value will skyrocket though so make sure you grab em fast...that's why i opted for a more expensive Gsync monitor as i know that in 10 years from now nvidia will still be out there pushing new technologies and advancing graphics boundaries.

Those 4K monitors you see with Gsync are still only 60HZ and 4K is just way too many pixels to push for gaming...IMHO.

1440p is fantastic looking it's very sharp and you only need minimal anti-aliasing amount to get rid of jaggies.

Higher refresh rate is a lot better to have vs. ''even'' more pixels...at some point it's enough...if you want 40'' then yes 4K would look crisper but at 27 to 30'' in games i'm sure there is not much difference at all it just run better on 1440p it's IMHO the ideal resolution to be gaming at right now and at least for the next 5 years until 4K gaming really become main stream and mid/highish-range cards can comfortably push games at 4K on their own.

...so, basicaly one or them other depending on...a lot of stuff:

as you can see nvidia is a little bit more expensive but the 980ti is also more powerful than the FuryX...but the FuryX is watercooled and run cooler out of the box.

BUT, also...i would wait for ASUS's new 1440p IPS panel that have similar spec to this one but a better chassis, it's suppose to be coming out soon...no idea on price...probably about the same as this acer monitor which i own and can attest it's a super monitor.

i am an intel fan but i hope amd will get a "rejuvenation" with their new ZEN CPUs and rise ... so team green and blue(intel = team blue?) stay in battle with a worthy opponent ;) and get more and more improvement for all of us
