I know they do, I've overclocked my FX-6300, and most of the time 1.35v is as high as you need.
Yeah but it's not way too high as you described. And different chips have different tolerances and properties.
OP what program are you monitoring CPU frequency with? If it's telling you 5.2GHz I'm assuming you're using task manager. I'd try CPU-Z.
What board are you using as well?
Disable turbo core and set the CPU to 21x multiplier with 1.375V manual (Static) voltage and high load line calibration (LLC).
