Ever since Lollipop (I think), more and more apps have been using these banners that pop up on the top of the screen. I for one do not like these at all! They take up space often times when I'm in the middle of doing something and end up accidentally opening whatever the notification was. It wouldn't be so bad if the only lasted for a second or two, but they stay up there for at least ten seconds! (I've never actually counted). I've looked in the settings, and it seems the only way to prevent them is to turn off notifications for the app entirely, which isn't very helpful. Is there some other way, or some other app that can change this? I much prefer Ed the old way of notifications just showing up in the notification tray...

I can set a timeout so it's not 10 seconds, and even blacklist certain apps, but maybe that's just cyanogen...

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

There doesn't appear to be, it's probably with mentioning that I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4, running the official firmware

Stock firmwares don't have the option to disable heads up notifications. Actually not just stock, but any of those stock-based ones too. Only AOSP-based ROMs have the option to turn it off or set the duration to show.
