First make sure your output resolution is 1080P.

Can you give a model? Also, Philips makes monitors?

Go into monitor setting and see about switching aspect ratio, looks like default is 4:3

the amount cut if is very small... and it is definitely set to 1080p

Make sure your aspect ratio is set to 1:1 and not 4:3 or overscan

how do I do that?

Using the buttons on your monitor, you have to navigate to the what is probably the image menu and it should be there but depending on manufacturer design it might be under a different sub menu

there are 2 options... 4:3 and widescreen. It was widescreen
