First of all I want to mention the fact I've never built a PC before but I've watched a few hundred videos about it. So all theory, no experience.

Budget & Location

I'm living in New Zealand, and have a budget of ~$2000NZD, but as you can tell this setup is actually $2500NZD so I'm not too picky about being over budget, just means I've got to work a bit more  :P

Aim

I picked my parts to run games pretty well, with Star Citizen originally getting me interested in the PC stuff I'd like to run more games like this. I'm also a university student and will be using this computer for assignments and such as well. So this will be mostly for gaming, but will also be my personal computer for browsing, working, streaming, etc,.

Monitors

I'm planning on using the AOC i2637Fh, but that's listed in the link below and I'm welcome to people trying to convert me. I want an IPS display though, not too put off by low refresh rates or latency (so long as I get 60Hz... I've never really experienced latency, as I come from consoles).

Peripherals

Again, open to suggestion, but will probably pick up Logitech G502 Proteus Core, as its only $80 New Zealand dollars right now.

I don't really mind what kind of case, so long as it has good space and cable management, and a side panel!

As I've never built a PC before, you're probably going to find things that will make you scratch your heads. I admit I was firing in the dark when I chose the motherboard (will this thing overclock alright?) and power supply.

So guys, where did I screw up?

all good but believe me before you spend that much money on anything. youll want to do so much research. Also good luck with the build. be sure to post it here

I second the post recommending the 390 over the 970, it's just a better option for the money.  That 970 is crazy fuck nuts off the wall pants on head expensive, but then I'm an American so I'm not sure if that should factor into how I'm viewing that price.  Regardless, 390's the better option for the price and I say this as a 980 ti user.

Oh signature time!  It's on now, gonna give ya somethin snarky and clever and think way too hard about this because I'm really concerned about what people on the internet think of me.  Better google some good quotes to put in here too.....oh wait I'm not a loser.

Because he only really needs windows on it! I myself get along with a 64gb SSD, 390 is definitely an option.

honesty, I definitely prefer Nvidia graphics cards when i'm building my own system however what you choose is purely up to you. AMD gives you better price per dollar(i don't like how much they directly re-brand there cards though) Nvidia is more expensive but I like their software and also like to have the option to get the Shield Portable when I have the money. Also all the nice little things they tend to add on.

MADCATZ: I'm afraid this is where my knowledge fails me. The reason I got an SSD was hoping for faster load times which is nice with the fact SSD is considered more reliable, though I can understand the whole idea of a boot drive...

KillerOfPie: I'll definitely put more thought into the video cards now, wasn't even aware of those added advantages. Will start researching that right away.

ThatOneRussian: As my first PC build I would definitely like some flexibility when it comes to programs, so if an SSD gives me that, then I'd say it's worth the investment and I'll get that

for graphics card. research everything in your pricepoint. dont take someones word for it. for me im getting a 980ti because I can afford it and amd doesnt offer anything that good in that price range. but the 970 and 380 is AMD's turf

I sprung for dual 770's mainly because I got them used for $165(USD) each, which makes them far better then the amd equivalent.
