New(old) Iphone questions

Hello Forum,

 

I had a few questions. I am getting an iphone 4s tommorow, not going to be using it on a cell network, wifi only. And I want it to run as good as it can. I've heard that past IOS 7, it doesn't cope well. Is there anyway to install IOS7 and then just not have it update? I'm going to be getting it used so I'm going to factory reset it when I get it, and don't want the newest IOS. Also, any fun ideas as to do with a "throw away" iphone? (I bought it cheap so I'm not worrying about it messing up, besides I have a droid turbo daily driver :)  )

Does not having a second parenthesis around something bother anyone else as much as it does me? (Like if this statement was missing a second side)
