well, this is the best I could do... you already have a graphics card... (right?)

I'm on a tight budget and looking at building an X99 build.

I want to use a 5820k, MSI X99A SLI Plus motherboard (the one with USB 3.1), 32GB of Corsair Vengeance LPX  DDR4-2400MHz RAM (2 x 16GB), a Dark Rock Pro 3 CPU Cooler, 850 Pro 2.5" 500GB SSD and a Phantex Enthoo Pro. I already have a GTX 750ti and am not too bothered about gaming performance (as I'd rather go all out on a 980 or 390X later on down the line - as a pose to a 960 or 380 now). I video edit and 3d animate in after effects. I also work with a lot of 360 degree video. I've fished around on the Adobe Forum (I use Cinema 4D, After Effects, Premiere, Speedgrade, Illustrator and Photoshop) and many say GPU no longer effects render times and instead a more powerful CPU and more RAM is better (hence the 32GB RAM). I just wanted to check that by sticking with my 750Ti (for the time being) I'm not crushing possible performance. I also wanted to check my decision of going for 2 16GB dimms on an 8 dimm slot board. People over @ the toms hardware forum say even if you buy the exact ram kit (so another 2 16GB dimms) they may not work. This has confused me quite a lot.

Any help would be hugely appreciated! :)

Thanks,

James :D

I just need the extra performance from X99, and since it's a newer chipset I'm hoping they might release their next 2 generations on it (just gives me scope to upgrade :P)

good luck anyway use pcpartpicker it helps a lot if you dont alreasy

You don't need 32GB of ram, I think 16GB would do. You also save money for your build if you get 16Gb instead of 32Gb.
