Hi

my setup need a pretty special way of updating graphic drivers, but i was aware of that and i'm fine with it, but now i can't get the last version of the geforce driver, let me explain :

i have a Clevo P150SM laptop chassis with a GTX860m (maxwell) which is pretty much the same card as a GTX750ti

this motherboard/GPU combo is pretty unusual and that is why i need modded inf files that i download here : http://www.komeil.com/blog/nvidia-driver-windows-7-laptop-modded-inf

without that when i start the driver setup and it is looking for compatible hardware it say that i don't have the right components

i can get over that part with no problem

but now every driver after the 352.86 (which i actually have) fail to instal

the driver setup start loading and after ~20sec it say that the instalation failed, no more informations

i tryed to instal the driver through device manager, or in failsafe mode, or both none worked

i always cleaned the last driver installed with DDU (http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html)

i only acheived to instal 1 newer update but after restarting the PC was acting like no driver was installed (0 GPU usage) but that was a win10 driver so it might be another issue

do you have any idea how i could get those newer drivers installed?

i don't think my GPU is old enough to not be supported anymore

and some of the latest games can't run on this 352.86 driver (like star wars battlefront beta or the crew wild run beta)

thanks

i just copy the .inf in the displaydriver folder and overwrite the existing one

i have a driver installed (352.86) but the newest get a failed instalation

i don't think it has anything to do with the inf file

358.50

is the newest for the 860m..so mod the inf for that one for your hardware

i did exactly that :|

but as i said, any driver newer than the 352.86 fail to instal

i downloaded every inf files and drivers that goes with it and tryed each one to get to see that the latest working one is the 352.86

and anyway the inf file is just here to make the setup find the hardware, once the first page of the setup is passed nothing is interfered by the inf file

this happen

then this

install .net newest

and the vc++ redistibales..atleast up to 2010

also..check if your OS is up to date...the driver might need a window update before it will install

another thing to try

Method II  (Follow each step carefully)

A. The complete removal of all NVIDIA driver files from the System

Once again, make sure you are using the latest Service Pack (not minor updates but big ass Service Pack). Seriously, do it. Play this video of Shia in the background if you have trouble finding the motivation.
Install Driver Sweeper.
Apply Take Ownership to Registry (this registry hack is pretty useful for other situations, too; such as when you cannot delete a file or do not have access to old porn folder due to permission issue).
Restart PC and get in Safe Mode (press F8 after initial POST).

Delete these following NVIDIA Driver data supplied from Windows Update if existed (right click on the folders and choose Take Ownership if the system does not allow you to remove them) :

C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nvdsp.inf–xxxsomethingxxx
C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_lh–xxxsomethingxxx
C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nvoclock–xxxsomethingxxx
C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\
C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\
Now also fire up Driver Sweeper and delete everything else that is related to NVIDIA. Restart the PC after the process is completed.

i have no available windows update and i installed this OS ~3 month ago so it probably only used SP for all the old updates

for .net and visual c++ i have all that

and about method 2, isn't that what DDU is supposed to do on it's own?

use ddu and then check if theres anything left in the reg

and maybe use ddu in safe mode
