Hey guys, so I'm upgrading my build with money I got for my birthday! I'm gonna be posting benchmarks of before and benchmarks of post upgrade. The upgrades consist of a i5-4690k which I'll benchmark at it's stock speed of 3.5GHz as well as an overclocked speed which is yet to be determined, I'm also getting a second 960 which in well optimized titles should give me performance greater than or equal to that of a 980 and then last but not least I'll be installing a Corsair RM750i power supply.

Before:

Specs:

  • Intel Core i3-4150 @ 3.5GHz
  • Corsair H100i
  • Corsair SP120's (exhaust, push)
  • Gigabyte Z97MX-Gaming 5
  • 4x4GB's of Corsair Vengeance Low Profile @ 2133Mhz
  • 240GB Kingston V300 SSD
  • 1TB Western Digital Blue
  • Gigabyte GTX 960 G1 Gaming Edition
  • Corsair CX500M w/ NZXT cable extensions
  • Corsair AF120's (intake)
  • Corsair 350D

Benchmarks:

  • Firestrike: 5825 Points
  • Heaven: 35.9FPS / 903 Points
  • Valley Extreme HD: 38.8FPS / 1625 Points
  • GTA V High / Ultra: 30.2FPS
  • Tomb Raider Ultra: 50.1FPS

I got the 960 when it released in January and instead of going through all the effort to sell my current GPU which I'd hopefully get maybe 130-150$ for and then buy another GPU I'd figure I'd go with a SLI configuration. Plus I don't play at resolutions higher than 1080p so the 2GB's of VRAM isn't a very limiting factor.
