record the skyrim window

Go to solution Solved by Samfisher,

so id like to only film the window/game and not anything else. ive figured out how to do this with OBS but the video recorded is VERY BADLY pixilated. I usually use shadowplay but that can either film the desktop with a game fullscreened (which is what I usually do) or film when run through GeFource Experience. BUT I have to run skyrim through MO or I wont have my mods. so how would I record skyrim while its windowed while not having all the extra space?

Are you using dual monitors? Cos if you aren't, I don't understand the part about recording the desktop if the game is already fullscreen.  OBS can be configured, you probably recorded with default settings.  Go to settings and crank up the bitrate to something like 5000kbps or something.

OBS can record in far better quality than Shadow Play. You just need to properly set it up. There is a lot of good guides on the internet.

Also faar more demanding on the PC as a result :P  Quality wise ShadowPlay is pretty good, but the colour saturation is decreased a little.  I do a lot of recording for my WoW guild when we raid so I've experimented a bit.

You can record by using your integrated GPU if you have Intel CPU for example which will result in no performance loss at all. Yes the quality will be somewhat lower because Intel Quick Sync lowers the overal quality but it is still very good quality.

I've tried QS recording, you will need a much MUCH higher bitrate to equal the quality of x264 while using bitrates 2-4 times lower.
