Replace H60's Stock Paste?

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

The stock paste is good--those who say otherwise are wrong.

Been running with the stock paste for about 2 days now, and im pretty sure the Tuniq TX 4 i purchased along with the cooler can do a better job. Is it worth pulling it out and cleaning/ swapping the paste?

Some people say the stock h60 paste is trash. others say its high end. Well which is it?

its ok

replacing it wont really change temps more than a couple degrees

but MX-4 is much better and will last a longer time, so if you want to replace it go ahead :)

The stock compound is fine, assuming it's the same they shipped with my H80i. But of course you can possibly do better.

That being said, the difference between common thermal material and the best is usually measured in just a few degrees Celsius. What are your temperatures, and how far from your expectations are they?

Not really tho, dropped 4c from stock paste to grizzly on my H110i GTX.

Tried it just for some testing and it is indeed shit.

The cooler comes with quality TIM from Dow Corning. I don't suppose you'd call NT-H1 crap. http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/corsair_hydro_series_h100i_review,11.html

except since its preapplied, it's usually a bit dried up and spreads awkwardly.

Also NT-H1 is OK, I don't personally use it. It's just easy for the noobies to apply since its not liquidy.

I use T grizzly

PEWDIEPIE DONT CROSS THAT BRIDGE

idles are a bit higher by 4c. gaming is 57c peak (for my chip the danger zone is anywhere beyond 60, i usually swap paste if i ever see a max temp of 62. its safe to go as high as 65 but not sustained (a spike to 65 is ok) Id like to be at a solid 53 to 55 while really pushing my chip. i ran a 15 min stress test and hit 59, it seemed to back off heat wise at 59c.

It trash, Tuniq isn't the greatest either. Get Thermal Grizzly, NT-H1 or Gelid GC Extreme.

all the reviews ive seen say tuniq tx 4 beats AS5 by a solid 6c. Which is why i grabbed some. been a die hard AS5 user forever and im just not as impressed with as5 lately.
