I am on a budget and want to buy a desktop PC between 500-600 USD that will be mainly used for blender 3D modeling and animation. I will also use it for gaming but that is not a priority.

I don't know very much about Graphics cards, when I try to search the Internet it seems that some people say nvidia graphics cards are way better than amd but others say amd are better value wise. So here I am, I heard about dual graphics by amd from somewhere but I think its more of gaming thing (I have no idea). I built this Pc based off of the dual graphics thing: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DQJLQ7 As for CPUs... I dont know the difference between the i5-4690K and the AMD A10-5700 APU. Same number of cores, same GHz, yet fairly large price difference.

Please review the PC and you are more than welcome to build your own and post it. However, my budget is 600$ not including OS, and I am willing to spend 650$ if there is a significant performance increase. I know that most 3D modeling pcs are like $2000 but all I have is $650 and I would like to play around with 3D animation.
 
Oh, and I will need 3 display ports (either VGA, HDMI, DVI, ect.)

Sorry that I can't post a pcpartlist with suggestions. But working in VFX industry there is a big difference between modeling pc/ animation and rendering one. For modelling you only need a OK gpu, same for animation. For rendering you need as big ass cpu as you can get

So if I created a 3D animation for Blender, and I wanted to render it, the rendering part would use mosty CPU where as creating it uses mostly GPU?

 

So essentially to sculp, animate, and render I need good CPU, and good GPU?

Pretty much, unless you manage to find a CUDA renderer.

I always strive for stronger CPU than GPU in builds because they ought to last longer than 3 years of use.

For the Best builds and Price lists here is a world where many points of the price have been predefined already for your convenience!

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

The OS is like a kind food, Try it before saying if you like it or don't.

i'm gonna suggest this.

kind of a budget all-rounder, mostly based off parts you picked.

 

i5 4460 - you're gonna need some cpu horses, i'd drop in an FX8350 but that'd require a custom cooler, adding extra cost.

(btw: if you have perfect scaling on cores, the FX8350 beats out this specific i5)

 

dropped in a seasonic PSU, cant go wrong with seasonic.

 

i dropped in a GTX750ti, mostly because they're cheap, still provide quite a punch, and work on literally any shit old power supply you can find - allowing some savings there.

Alright thanks, I notice that certain GPU were built for rendering, is there a certain specification I should look for in either CPUs or GPUs to achieve highest performance? All I really know GHz and RAM, but I dont know what all this threading and such is. What Part of a CPU makes it a good CPU for rendering? And what part of a GPU makes it good for sculping/animating?

Modeling uses cpu and gpu, but it well optimized and doesn't take a lot of resources, maybe just RAM. Rendering will use every bit of cpu you have(check cinebench as it will show how good your cpu is at that). I'm using Autodesk Maya and Arnold Rendered, so I have never used blender, but I'm pretty sure it will work with resources the same. Some texturing packages will ask for atleast 2gb Vram on your gpu ( The Foundry Mari ) But it is more professional software

Performance makes it good.

Performance is the clock (the megahertz-numer/ gigahertz number) mutliplied by the IPC of the architecture.

On Intel's side the clock is lower but the IPC is way higher. Price/performance of high-end chips is far superior to AMD's lineup

On AMD's side the clock is higher but the IPC is fairly low. Price/performacne of low-end chips is best.

 

You chose and APU in your first build whic is a CPU +GPU all-in-one solution. It has relatively high Graficspower for a CPU chip but comparably low CPU power when comparing to other chips. Not your best option right here.

All right, for any future people reading this, I am going with this build:

After doing some research on blender's cycles render, I have found that cycles uses GPU to render faster, but to render using a GPU, you must have CUDA grahpics chips. If you do not use a CUDA graphics chip, it will use CPU instead. So for blender specifically, it is better to have good CUDA GPU over a good processor. Blender recommends any 64-bit 8 core processor with a 3gb CUDA graphics card.
