Since I no longer play super competitive fps games and primarily War Thunder I'd go for the IPS panel.

What games are you gunna be playing and how much does refresh rate matter to you?

I would say IPS. Of course IPS you have different grades.. entry which isn't much better than TN in terms of colors, and super high end that costs the price of a fancy car.

So it really depends on what you are looking into.

Dell, LG and ASUS are great monitor brands, Dell especially, as much as it is surprising to say. They are tanks, and usually really good.

It's sad that Dell has such a negative connotation from their pre-builts but their ultrasharps are top tier.

AMVA+ and PLS are IPS panels

but most AMVA+ panels come with a contrast ratio of 3000 instead of 1000 giving them generally much deeper blacks. vibrant colors are worth nothing without deep blacks imo.

DELL has been a great brand for professional color works monitor. Not sure which negative connotation you're referring to.

He means that Dell has a gotten a bad image of sucky product due to their low end consumer laptop and desktop computers (Inspiron series). They were hugely popular for their low price, and continue to be popular, but they are system that really start to have problems after 1 year. Due to the low price product, Dell after sale service and warranty service got also the axe. Providing poor service to consumers who needs warranty replacement or tech support of their laptop/desktop, which brought the term "Dell Hell".

Dell XPS series is fairly solid, and their business class system has superior warranty service (you pay more for the system for this), and the build quality and overall engineering is better (you also pay more for this), and the system has less junk (again, you pay more for this).

Dell monitors uses business class warranty service which is fantastic (ok.. not Logitech fantastic, but pretty good compared to the competition), and has excellent (super competitive) warranty coverage (Dell pays shipping BOTH direction, and prepares everything for you, no crappy zones and distance faulty pixel policy crap excuse to not cover you either. Their coverage is simple to understand and easy to follow). This is probably because the monitor market has bigger margins, especially in the high end sector than low end computers. As professionals are willing to pay a premium price for their product, they are usually over built, and has a nice R&D section to implement the best they can selected panels, and tend to pick good ones.

Please don't buy low end monitors. They are not worth it. You better off holding, saving more, and getting a nice sturdy monitor that will enjoy for the next 5 years.

Ah, good to know.

I have looked around the Inspiron series laptop back in the day when I was selecting for my laptop purchase, but didn't know that they also build a lower end laptop. And pre-build desktop is just... errhh not worth getting since long time ago.
