Help me with PC build.

Go to solution Solved by TheCaptain53,

Ok. So I rethink build and here he is:

Intel Core i5 4690k
Asus Z97-K
x2 HyperX Furry DDR3 4GB 1600
Asus Radeon R9 390 8GB STRIX OC
XFX Black Edition XTR 650W

I think its good now. What You think ?

Pretty damn good. That XFX power supply has a great score on JonnyGuru. http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story6&reid=434

Should be a very strong build.

Hi there everybody.

i was thinking about future build. Here it is:

i5 4690k
Asus b85-pro
x2 HyperX Furry DDR3 4GB 1600
Asus Strix GTX 970 4GB

Also, I stucked on choosing right power supply. What PSU You will recomend? I was thinking about Thermaltake 630W Smart SE Modular. It's in decent price in my country, but maybe You have some of own suggestions.

Thanks for any interest.
Peace

Sorry for my low english, but I'm trying my best  ;)

R9 390 > GTX 970
Thermalfake PSUs are tosh - get an EVGA G2/GS 650W.

Get a Z board if you want a "K" chip.

MSI or Sapphire R9 390 will suit you better :)

A Z97 board is better off for a i5-4690k to allow for overclocking.

For the PSU, look for Any SeaSonic, any XFX, EVGA GS B2 or G2, Antec High Current Gamer.

Get a EVGA/GS/G2/B2 or a SeaSonic power supply or another power supply that has Super Flower or SeaSonic as the OEM. Also I would recommend a 390 and a Z97 mobo so you can overclock. If you arn't planning on OC'ing then get a non-k CPU to save money.

As @don_svetlio said, Z97 board for a 4690K, and an EVGA 550/650 GS/G2 would be a good shout.

If you're a little strapped for cash and don't mind the PSU being modular or not, the XFX TS 550W 80+ Gold is worth a look. It's based on the same platform as the 550GS, it does have the cables attached, but it is much cheaper.

The whole '390 vs 970' thing doesn't take into account features and other things, such as power consumption (a big factor in my eyes). In terms of pure performance, the 390 is faster, but not by a whole lot. It's not enough to rule out the 970 for its, subjectively, better features. The AMD series does, however, look to hold an advantage in DX12 titles, so that's definitely something worth considering.

Just want to add - every Nvidia feature has an AMD counterpart - some worse than others but some are better. As for power - difference is 80W.

For an equivalent 'output', as such, that extra 80W will be displaced as heat (or whatever arbitrary factor of power consumption the 390 is using against the 970). The difference in cost due to electricity usage will be minimal, but the heat output is not.

I want a modular power supply. I found this: XFX BLACK EDITION XTR 650W Full Modular. What You can say about that?

I heard a lot of opinion about 390 vs 970 battle, but after what You said about that, I will rethink my decision,

XFX are SeaSonic rebrands - solid PSUs all around.
