eBay graphics cards

Go to solution Solved by Mohenjo,

it depends on the seller. just dont buy super low ball GPUs and look for people who have already bought it or if the seller has a good rating. in most cases its good.

I trust eBay for GPUs. I got a GTX 680 with a backplate & water cooler for $120

eBay is pro-consumer - you can literally steal someone's card.

Are the safe? If marked as used, would they still function well? I'm just wondering because I know people can say it works and such where in reality it doesn't so...

I bought my GTX 680 DCUII for a good price on eBay and the temps were pretty bad so I redid the thermal paste and it's cooler than most 680s on lower fan speeds.

This said, while the ASIC quality is pretty good (79.4%) it's not a great overclocker.

I bought a GTX 480 and the seller sent me a grill instead of the gpu. Ebay sided with the seller. I'm not happy.

Buy locally. Much lower prices (I have a formula for what I will pay if you want it). And garunteed working because you test before paying.

I've never seen any local listings that weren't way overpriced. That said, I live in a pretty sparsely populated area.

Bought a couple and sold some. Watch for seller rating and also check for the listing return policy. While you have the card, test the crap out of it and make sure its stable- check at least to see if its functioning as stock and maybe some mild OC. Also, check with the seller if used-GPU for manufacturer warranty transfer if it's still covered.

I see how that can be convenient but I don't understand how you can do it. I hate the idea of living in a city for several reasons.

to each his own. I love vertical cities that have very high densities.

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Just wondering, how hot do they actually get?

85C to 90C are normal temps for an overclock.

I want to try an experiment with that, make some sort of plate thingy as the heatsink and have it as a cup of tea warmer xD

It could work but it would die. But even with the heatsink and blower on, it can cook an egg. There a video showing 3 way sli 580s doing it I think.
