Hi.

I heard that it is essential to put silver coil or biocide along with distilled water to prevent algae growth.

Anyone facing such Algae problem? As I have been using this water cooling set for around two years without a single drain (and without killcoil or biocide). I didnt even use distilled water, instead I use tap water that passes through reverse osmosis filtration (home made drinking water). I did a drain today, as i wanna change the radiator and did not notice any change in water color, no algae, no sedimentation.

So I started to doubt that kill coil or biocide is necessary.

How long does it takes before this algae problem started to rise?

its probably all stuck in your waterblocks because the ultra fine fins act as a filter

It depends on the minerals and bacteria in the water but usually it takes a few months for it to start, as said by Enderman you should take apart the blocks and clean them out since they would most likely clog up there.

If you notice the fluid to smell kind of like stagnant water then there is a problem.
