I brought it back to my house from another place (mind that it was working before i shut it off) once i came back it worked fine and dandy, all of the sudden 2 days pass by an viola. This thing is slower than my grandmother with a broken hip.

Its brand new

it might have gotten damaged during transport.

what is the model of the hdd ?

also. id run some benchmarks (diskmark perhaps) to see if its speed is normal.  and compare it to other same hdd on the web.

perhaps you could still return it or exchange it

its not cus its new that it can't break.  its better if something new breaks now.  something thats been in use for awhile will rarely break sudently like that.  if it broke now. its better than have it break in a couple months with a lot of data on it.

Sounds like a HDD problem.

You said because it's new it's unlikely to be the cause.

It's actually the other way around. As it's new you don't know how reliable it is until a certain amount of time has passed.

It's not a race to the bottom.

Which RAM Brand? (Crucial, Kingston, Corsair?)

Motherboard?

HDD Brand? (Hitachi / HGST, Western Digital, Seagate, TOSHIBA, Samsung?)

Where did you purchase your Windows Key / Where did you download it from?

RAM Configuration? (2 * 6GB, 3 * 4GB, 4 * 3GB?)

CPU Temps?

Before answering these questions, please run the following programs:

Glary Utils Free Edition ( http://www.glarysoft.com/glary-utilities/download/ )

Bitdefender ( http://www.bitdefender.com )

Malwarebytes ( https://www.malwarebytes.org )
