I get max 2.2mb/s on steam, around 3mb/s on Origin :P

My friend is also upstairs, with the router downstairs.

again, maybe closer to server, different internet package/provider, different router, different wifi dongle etc etc

I guess. I get significantly lower download speed on Origin though.

might be farther from an EA server :P i think theres one chicago (totally guessing) which is close to me

Don't know if you can change your server on Origin, but you can on Steam. I live in Puyallup, WA, which is incredibly close to Valve's Seattle servers.

I've peaked at 11MB/s on Steam.

Bits or bytes? If Bytes, please tell me what bloody ISP you use, because I'm really tired of paying the same amount for Internet as I've paid since ~2006, which is $60 for 1.5MB/s, or 12Mb/s, and 0.5Mb/s up.

 

Downloading games was easy once I switched to my local server, but my god is backing up my photos, videos, and some documents annoying. I have to go to my local library just so I can get their business class 100 up, which is offered by the same ISP I use.  :angry:
