Help? Windows 7 is beng dumb/weird folders disappearing

So I did a back up of a users user folder with desktop, my videos, my documents etc.. And I looked yesterday to make sure everything is there and it was. Now today for some reason it only shows the non folder items but when I right click and do properties on the user folder It shows the full 8.61gb of stuff but when I open it I don't see any of the folders that I backed up yesterday. I have absolutely no idea what could be wrong or what could be happening. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Oh and both the computer I backed up from and the one I backed up to are both running windows 7 so I dont think it would be a compatibility issue

try getting a boot disk, load 7-zip onto something, load up the boot disk, command prompt shit, and then go to the folders and copy files
